英语系 Statement on Diversity, 公平与包容

The 英语系 at newbb电子平台 commits to fostering and sustaining a diverse, 公平的, 尊重, 反种族主义团体. 作为一个部门, 我们理解语言的重要性, ,阅读, 写作, 批判性思维很重要, 这段历史, 理论, 同理心很重要. The department aims to enhance diversity, 包容, and 股本 through

  • The recruitment, retention, and promotion of diverse faculty
  • The recruitment and retention of diverse students (minors, majors, and graduate)
  • Mentoring and advocating for historically underrepresented, marginalized groups and protected categories including but not limited to: Black students, 本土学生, and students of color; LGBTQ+ students; neurodiverse students; students with disabilities; students of diverse faiths; first-generation, 国际, 还有老学生
  • Increasing diverse course offerings to foreground intersectionality, particularly underrepresented or marginalized authors, 文本, 和观点, particularly developing 砖’ “Diversity & Practice” and “Intercultural Explorations” courses
  • Increasing diversity-related programming, 事件, and partnerships with other departments, 项目, 校园中心, 以及社区合作伙伴
  • Supporting a departmental Diversity and 证券委员会 made up of pre-tenure, 终身, and instructional faculty as well as a graduate and undergraduate representative

This committee undertakes to evaluate diversity, 股本, and 包容 in the 英语系, 包括教职工, 在部门教学中, 在英语学生中, using objective measures and measures of subjective experience. It also makes recommendations for improving measures of diversity, 股本 and 包容 to appropriate department committees or to the department as a whole. 定期, the committee will review and recommend changes to departmental Statement on Diversity, 公平与包容.  The members of the committee are appointed by the Chair of the 英语系.
